I’ve had so many calls recently from customers unable to contact Talk Talk. By the time they get through to me they are so completely frustrated and stressed out.
When customers need to contact their Service Providers they should be able to do so easily, and without unnecessary delay.

Imagine having your Talk Talk Internet down and having to carry on Home Schooling without it. Contacting Talk Talk to have a line test carried out has been impossible for many people I’ve spoken to. Searching the Internet for ways of getting hold of TalkTalk Customer Services reveals it’s a common dilema faced by many.

What about other Service Providers?

How to contact BT is also a problem for many – kept on hold for forty-five minutes or more. Once customers get through to an advisor they can’t always talk to someone who understands their issue. The most frustrated customers I speak to are with either trying to contact Talk Talk or BT Openreach.
The free contact number for BT Faults is 151 from a BT Landline, or 0800 800 151 using a Mobile Phone (Charges may apply).

If my line is faulty do I contact Openreach?

Note that you must contact your Service Provider who will log a fault with Openreach who maintain the Telephone and Broadband Network on behalf of all the Service Providers. Openreach are not contactable directly. You must raise the problem through your own Provider.

If i've tried everything but still need to talk to Openreach

You can email the CEO of BT Openreach. Please ONLY do this if you have tried everything else.
Gavin Patterson used to be the CEO, but the current CEO of Openreach is Clive Selley.
If you send an email keep it factual and straight to the point. Include detail such as address and postcode and your contact number, length of time you’ve been seeking a repair or resolution, and who you’ve tried to contact.

If you have reference or job numbers include these too. If your complaint is to do with something dangerous like a broken manhole cover include it in the subject heading.

I don’t want to lose any calls, can TalkTalk divert my calls free?

Ask to have a temporary divert placed on your line so that people calling don’t just get the Engaged Tone, or ringing with no reply. How to contact Talk Talk so you don’t lose your customers, or worry your relatives. Ask for a divert to any other landline or mobile number until the fault is rectified. It can then be removed once service is restored.

What else can I try?

Try to contact Talk Talk at less busy times. Try calling TalkTalk for instance during meal times, or later in the evening. This applies too if there has been inclement weather causing increased call volumes.

What if the fault is inside my property? Can I be charged?

Your Service Provider will maintain your wiring from the Telephone Exchange up to and including your Master Socket or NTE (Network Termination Equipment) free of charge. Exceptions – corrosion or water ingress caused by a defect with your property, or damage other than normal wear and tear.

Wiring after the Master Socket is down to you

Your Service Provider is only really interested in the wiring up to the Master Socket. Beyond that, it is down to you to rectify yourself. You could call an electrician, but an Ex BT Engineer is a far better choice – especially when it comes down to getting you the best Broadband and WiFi speed.
