Serious about Gaming? Don't be slowed down by Lag Time!
Here's how Direct Hardwired Connection from your Router to your Games Consol reduces Lag Time
If you’re serious about Online Gaming you know about the need for a fast, reliable Internet connection. When you use your Broadband to connect your Games Consol with the outside world and play against other people, lag time is crucial to winning.
Understanding Lag Time and why Speed is Everything
Lag Time is the time it takes for the message from your joystick or press of a button, to be communicated through the Internet to a central Server. Once it has registered your action, it then sends the updated signal back to you, moving your cursor or weapon, or firing a bullet at your opponent. A long or slow lag time, means you are at a disadvantage, with your opponent able to outsmart your moves – while you’re still waiting for your screen to update!
No 1 Tip - Do away with Wi-Fi and use Hardwired Ethernet
Relying on Wi-Fi connections within your house can be hit and miss. It’s OK for checking emails and scrolling through Facebook, but streaming video, downloading films, and holding a Zoom Meeting can cause it to freeze.
A much better way to connect to your own Home Broadband Network is with a direct Hardwired Connection using CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet cable. This will be a good way of minimizing the effects of Lag Time, meaning that that the only restriction then left, is the actual Broadband Speed coming into your house.
Six Point Plan to help you
- First things first – making sure that your existing Phone Line cable (which carries your Broadband) is wired correctly.
- I can test your Broadband Connection speed so that you know it’s running at the best speed possible, or find out if it needs improving. This will help everyone in the household have a better connectivity experience.
- Checking the cable, connections and devices are in good order and installed correctly.
- I can show you how to check your Wi-Fi Signal Strength and range, and instal CAT6 cable and a Wireless Access Point to boost any weak signal areas.
- Help plan a route for a Hardwired Connection between your Router and the Games Consol taking the neatest and least intrusive path.
- Run the Network Cable for you and test and demonstrate it. Check that your Lag Time has been reduced.
