Background
My Background as a Phone Engineer in Southend. Find out why I quit my Job and left BT Openreach to become a successful Independent Phone Engineer.
So, here’s where it all started working as a Phone Engineer. When BT decided to install trackers in everyone’s vans, forcibly implementing Saturday working and shift patterns, I felt my only option was to quit my job. It was a tough decision because I valued my role at BT and the friendships I had formed. I decided to leave the company I had loved to be a part of for the last Twenty Three years.
Along with so many other Phone Engineer I felt betrayed..
The new management style was far removed from the previous ‘caring’ company we all worked for. I really miss working for BT – as it was. Over the years I gained so much knowledge as a BT Phone Engineer covering the Southend, Wickford, Woodham Ferrers, Rayleigh and Benfleet area. I felt that it would be a sad waste not to put it to good use.
We (older) guys helped build the Telephone Network that the younger generation of engineers have now inherited and maintain. We trained new recruits to high standards, but tough time constraints can create unbelievable pressure on BT Engineers today. Restrictive time constraints in my opinion, force a compromise in Customer Service, missed appointments, and rushed workmanship to just do the minimum required, and dash.
Time for a new start and hopefully my success will inspire many others to follow. Those who feel stuck – employed by BT Openreach in a seemingly helpless situation.
My New Telephone Engineer Job, My wider objective
I wish to provide a cost effective, independent, friendly solution to many Broadband and phone problems, by harnessing experienced skilled Ex BT Engineers. By providing a database, searchable by Postcode to the public, businesses, or careers offices to ‘Find an Ex BT Phone Engineer in my area’. Encouraging currently employed Telephone Engineers that there is a bright new future if they do change career, possibly embarking on a new idea.
Why Choose Our Service?...
My employment at BT Openreach gave me years of experience, & I have received the best training possible covering all aspects of my BT Job, and completing tasks in a safe, professional manner. Your local Ex BT Engineers will have an invaluable set of skills too.
All BT engineers have been security cleared by BT & regularly work in restricted access areas such as banks & prisons. My old BT Job often meant I was working in high security buildings and interesting environments that not many people ever get to see. Most BT engineers I’ve met are conscientious, trustworthy and take a pride in their work. They want to do a good job, however the new way of working doesn’t always allow them adequate time.
