How to Install Starlink
Installing Starlink is designed to be a straightforward process, but it involves several steps to ensure optimal performance. Here’s a general overview of how to install Starlink:
1. Order Starlink Kit: First, you need to order a Star link kit from the official website. The kit typically includes a satellite dish (also known as a Starlink terminal), a mounting tripod or stand, a power supply, cables, and a Wi-Fi router (optional).
2. Choose Installation Location: Select a suitable location for installing the Star link dish. Ideally, it should have a clear view of the sky with minimal obstructions such as trees, buildings, or other obstacles that could interfere with the satellite signal.
3. Set Up Mounting Tripod or Stand: If your kit includes a mounting tripod or stand, assemble it according to the instructions provided. Ensure that it is stable and securely positioned in the chosen location.
4. Install Starlink Dish: Mount the dish on the tripod or stand. Follow the installation instructions provided in the kit to align the dish correctly. You may need to adjust the azimuth (direction) and elevation angles to optimize signal reception. Starlink’s mobile app can help you with this process by providing real-time feedback on signal strength.
5. Connect Cables: Connect the cables included in the kit to the Star link dish, power supply, and Wi-Fi router (if applicable). Make sure all connections are secure to prevent signal loss or interruptions.
6. Power Up: Plug in the power supply to the dish and connect it to a power source. Wait for the dish to power up and establish a connection with the Starlink satellite constellation.
7. Set Up Wi-Fi Network (Optional): If your kit includes a Wi-Fi router, follow the setup instructions to configure your Wi-Fi network. You may need to connect your devices to the router using Wi-Fi or Ethernet cables.
8. Align and Activate: Use the Starlink mobile app or web interface to verify that the dish is properly aligned and receiving a strong signal. Once confirmed, follow the activation steps provided to complete the setup process and activate your service.
9. Enjoy High-Speed Internet: Once installation and activation are complete, you can start enjoying high-speed internet access. Connect your devices to the Wi-Fi network and experience seamless connectivity, even in remote or underserved areas.
If you encounter any issues during the installation process, refer to the troubleshooting guides provided or contact their customer support for assistance.
Drop me a line once you’ve got Starlink up and running, and let me know what your personal experience is like. Would you recommend it to a friend?
I asked my local Facebook Group "Anyone tried it"? Here's what they said..
“Hi Colin, I’ve just written an article about Elon Musk’s Starlink Satelite Broadband – as an alternative to traditional copper telephone lines, and also the new Fibre Broadband. I would like to ask Rayleigh Essex readers if any have tried Starlink, and for their comments about their own experiences with it, good or bad.”
“Please feel free to message me via my website, or share comments here. Many thanks, Geoff Grove”

Expensive but perfect for places that can’t get traditional broadband connection
We gave clients using it out in Mali and other remote areas and my boss has it in Cornwall as he’s pretty remote too.
Really not needed in Rayleigh P&O cruises use starlink and i was impressed with its speed and reliability even whilst 3 days from land.

It wasn’t set up to rival or replace broadband or fibre. It was set up to reach areas that had little or no connectivity. It’s not going to compete with already networked areas.
What it does is fantastic. Yes it’s costly but if that’s the only option to be able to have connectivity then it’s available for that. It’s perfect for what it’s meant for.
Joshua Manners
I explored it as an option because the lines in our area are terrible and speeds are just not up to scratch with the modern age. However we were recently told new fibre was coming to our area which would give speeds higher than that of starlink, and with the lack of initial set up costs it kind of makes starlink pointless if you can get faster internet by cable
Ian Butler
We have it for our office. Bloody expensive but works brilliantly when traditional internet is non existent

I don’t think it is for me. Although there are some special offers with £449 for the hardware and £75 per month for the service , BT fibre sounds like a better deal. Spacelink Installation Prices
